ECPE-5 PIC Experimental PCB
Requirements
$25 parts cost
Support
Wloader
Allow in-circuit programming to allow Wloader to be programmed using
Wist628
PIC 16F877
Crystal or ceramic resonator
expansion connector for all un-used 16F877 pins (SIP, optional load)
DB9 connector for direct connection to PC
True RS-232 interface (MAX232 or equiv.)
Reset switch
Regulated 5v power (optional)
4-LEDs (1 minimum if necessary to meet parts cost)
2 switches (optional)
Concept
Design PCB to support all functions and options listed.
Load only those needed for the ECPE-5 lab- the other parts are for future labs, classes or individual experiments.
Use un-programmed 16F877 microprocessors. Then use a Wist628 to program the 16F877.
Minimum quantity 20-25 to minimize parts cost.
Only thru-hole parts to ease hand assembly.
Lab
Assemble kit
Load Wloader
Load and run test program via Wloader to demonstrate that the board is properly assembled
Write program to flash LED
Load and run the program
