Problems noted when MPLab v6.10 was installed. 1- Installing MPLab changed the association for .hex files and they can no longer be downloaded by XWisp with a double-click. 2- The extension associated with MPLab IDE project files (.mcp) is the same as the extension used by Metroworks. Even though MPLab was installed after the Metroworks compiler on my system, .mcp files remain associated with Metroworks. So double-clicking on the .mcp files will start up the Metroworks IDE and not the MPLab IDE. 3- When I changed the directory name for the project, I found that the .mcp and .mpw files could not be used because they still had references to files in the old directory. That means that for the .mcp and .mpw files to be useful for someone else, they would have to create a directory structure that precisely matched mine. The files could not be put on another drive (for example D: instead of C:) or placed in sub-directory. So I eliminated the .mcp and .mpw files and added instructions to the README.txt file explaining how to create a project.
